But, the latest opportunity for players to play the game for free resulted in the servers running into some trouble, prompting issues like searching for an online game for a long time. I don't play favorites, but today I'm sticking my finger up at Hyper-V, tomorrow it will likely be XenServer. Tripwire has been known to update their game with new maps, weapons and zombie enemies which keep the excitement level of the game in check. While a majority of the company is now at Buffalo Wild Wings enjoying wings and beer, I'm stuck raising virtual machines from the dead.

* Update * Sure enough, I had to physically hold the power button on the server until it shut down. Going to have to crash the entire vm host and infrastructure all because I installed Windows Updates. If I wasn't so experienced in many virtualization platforms and their issues, I'd say this would really turn me off to Hyper-V and Windows.Īngry = I cannot log into any virtual machines at all now. This all started because I installed Windows Updates inside the VM and allowed it to reboot after update installation.

The virtual machines are now all 'angry' and there are a dozen of them on this single Hyper-V host. My Hyper-V Manager first showed the VM in state: Stopping, now after trying over a dozen times to kill the process, I have a Hyper-V Manager that shows the VM state as: Stopping-Critical and the status is 'In service'.

When I try to kill/end the process of vmwp.exe it fails to die.
